Mushroom Cottage

The architecture of Earl Young is prevelent throughout Charlevoix from the "mushroom houses" (often called "fairy houses") to the Weathervane Inn and the Weathervane Terrace located on the Pine River channel in downtown Charlevoix. Built in the early 1900's, these whimsical structures are characterized by their "wavy" roof lines and stone work. Earl Young is credited with building as many as 30 stone houses, all but one located in Charlevoix.
