Schloss Neuschwanstein is the renovation of the old castle of Hohenschwangau beginning in 1869 by Ludwig II, King of Bavaria. Ludwig II's father had the castle of "Schwanstein" meaning "Swan." Neuschwanstein means "New Swan" or "New Castle". Disney patterned Cinderella's Castle after Schloss Neuschwanstein.
