Moonlight Fitzgerald

The "Fitz" was launched in June of 1958 into the Detroit River. It was named after the new board chairman of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company of Milwaukee. There were 29 men aboard November 10, 1975, the day she sank. All perished. The wreckage lies in two sections 535' in the depths of Lake Superior 17 miles northwest of Whitefish Point.
